Hi Steve, You answered my question about renting with dinged credit on the radio show and on the list last week. Just wanted to let you know, I used your advice and fell on my sword and was approved for an apartment last Friday with a higher (2 month rent) deposit. We actually broke a record with the management company, as the fastest approval ever. (application to lease signing about 3 hours). Thanks for your help Craig

Welcome. I'm Steve Rhode, a money coach, debt expert, budget expert and credit expert. I provide debt help and debt advice and credit advice. My specialty is helping people in a holistic and compassionate way to find solutions for financial troubles, money problems and for those considering bankruptcy or who want to get out of debt. After all these years of helping people I know I haven't seen it all but I certainly have helped many people with problem debt as a result of divorce, downsizing, layoff, medical problems, poor planning, bad luck, accidents, misfortune, poor money management, poor bill paying habits and a host of other reasons. There is nothing you can tell me that will shock me or alter my opinion of you. I am friendly, kind and non-judgmental.

You see I've walked in your shoes. In 1990 I found myself in a very unfortunate financial situation and filed bankruptcy. Having lived through that event I emerged and thought there has to be a kinder and better way for people to get advice and assistance when facing money troubles. So after my day job at IBM, I researched, studied and began to help people from the heart. What I learned was that while there were some technical solutions there was little or no assistance for the pain and trauma that you experience when living with problem debt.

Four years latter I began to help people full time. I co-founded the very first nonprofit holistic financial treatment center and I've gone on to write a number of books, I've been on television a lot, loads of press interviews and since 1999 I've written a nationally syndicated personal finance column. While I mention those things to help let you know that I am qualified to help people, the reality is that they really don't mean as much to me as the hugs and emails I get from people that I help.

The dilemma when helping people that have money troubles is that they generally don't have a lot of money to pay for expert advice. So I came up with this win-win solution.
